Alzheimer's Association of NSW

Founded in 1982, Alzheimer’s Australia NSW (previously Alzheimer’s Association NSW) is a rapidly growing non-profit community organisation based in North Ryde. In New South Wales, it is the peak consumer body representing people living with dementia and their families and carers, providing free information, support and education services to people.

Alzheimer’s Australia NSW aims to give people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia the respect they deserve and the support they need. It proactively advocates to government and industry on behalf of people living with dementia, their carers and families and works hard to raise community awareness and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia conditions.

Alzheimer’s Australia NSW provides support services including a Dementia Helpline, a network of 200 support groups throughout New South Wales, carer education programs and counselling services. It provides training, information and resources to service providers, including health care workers and other organisations to enable them to appropriately support people living with dementia, their carers and families.

There are a range of resources available from Alzheimer’s Australia NSW that cover all aspects of dementia care, from practical management strategies and definitions of dementia, to the latest information on drugs and research. The Library & Information Service supplies information, books, articles, videos, dvds and audiocassettes to people living with dementia, carers and health professionals.

Membership to Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is open to anybody concerned about dementia.  Community support through donations and sponsorship, as well as bequests, is vital to the continuation and growth of the work of the Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.
